Police are investigating two robberies in Stockton on the same day this week, in which two U.S. Postal Service mail carriers were assaulted and robbed for mail.

The first robbery was reported at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday at North Center Street and East Mendocino Avenue, where a 43-year-old USPS employee was working in the area.

Police said the suspect walked up to the mailman, demanded his property, and threatened to kill him.

When the employee refused, the suspect allegedly punched the man. The mail carrier gave the suspect the property and the suspect fled to a vehicle that was waiting in the area, police said.

According to police, the man was not injured.

A second robbery was reported minutes later at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnie Lane and Monterey Avenue.

Police said the 55-year-old postal worker was working in the area when he was approached by a suspect who demanded his belongings.

The mail carrier and the suspect were involved in a physical altercation, leading the robber to forcefully take the victim’s items.

The suspect fled the scene. The employee was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

Stockton police said they are looking into whether the same suspect was involved in both robberies.

Anyone with information about the robberies are asked to contact the Stockton Police Department at 209-937-8377.
