Identity of latest Stockton shooting victim, 58, released

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s detectives Thursday were investigating the shooting death of a 58-year-old Stockton man .

Deputies had rushed to the corner of El Dorado Street and Lowell Avenue at noon Wednesday after receiving a report of a man in need of medical attention, the sheriff’s office said. There, they found the victim, later identified by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office as Jose Ortiz, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

The sheriff’s office released no further information about the shooting or a possible suspect, but said it would offer updates as they become available.
