Thank you to our interns

This spring, our Stocktonia team got to work with two amazing interns. Last month, they completed their internships with hefty gains in their abilities and much gratitude for the opportunity to work for you, the residents who see their work.

See what the interns had to say about their experiences:

Sammy Jimenez, San Joaquin Delta College alum, photography and reporting intern. “I always told folks writing was my worst skill, but working as a photojournalist intern has bolstered both my photo and writing capabilities. The team I worked with held me close and provided aid in not only my work, but my personal efforts in life. I am truly lucky to have been in a space like this. NEWSWELL has been instrumental in creating a culture that cares for its interns, providing workshops and training opportunities to heighten the skill set of its community. My growth could be documented and appreciated.”

Leah Mesquita, Arizona State University, investigative reporting intern. “The best thing I learned about local news is how much it means to the people you are covering. Local news means highlighting issues that are often overlooked on a national level, and throughout my time at Stocktonia, I had the opportunity to speak to some great community members who truly care about their city.”
