A 43-year-old man was shot and killed in Stockton earlier this week, with police suspecting it was a homicide.

According to the Stockton Police Department, their officers were alerted to a report of a person shot in the area of South Commerce Street and West Main Street around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

When they arrived, they saw a man suffering from a gunshot wound. 

He was sent to a nearby hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said they are investigating his death as a homicide.
