Two people were arrested in Stockton after officers stopped a vehicle linked to a carjacking investigation, though neither was identified as the suspected carjacker, police said.
Stockton police said officers located the vehicle Sunday in the 100 block of West Benjamin Holt Drive and conducted a traffic stop.
The two occupants cooperated with officers and were taken into custody without incident. Police later determined they were not the suspect sought in the carjacking investigation.
Instead, officers arrested Latasha Torres, 36, and Dustin Sheppard, 35, on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle. Police said both also had outstanding warrants.
