Veterans and city and county officials gathered for the 22nd anniversary of 9/11 with a simple but profound message:

Never forget.

The ceremony was held on the steps of VFW Luneta Post 52, which is adjacent to the Stockton Memorial Civic Auditorium in Downtown Stockton. Luneta Post Commander J. Phillip Gutierrez hosted the ceremony and sang the National Anthem.

Mayor Kevin Lincoln, San Joaquin County Supervisor Tom Patti, Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden and Stockton Fire Chief Richard Edwards attended the memorial, which included a five-gun salute and the playing of taps from members of Karl Ross American Legion Post 16.
