
A veteran health care executive known for his financial acumen has been named the new president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton.
David Ziolkowski, who most recently was CEO of Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, starts his new job Feb. 10, according to a release from St. Joseph’s. He replaces Don Wiley, who retired two months ago after 34 years at the nonprofit regional hospital.
“His proven leadership abilities and commitment to excellence align perfectly with our mission and vision,” BJ Predum, president of the Central Valley unit of Dignity Health, which operates St. Joseph’s, said in a statement. “We are confident that he will be a transformative leader for our organization.”
Ziolkowski’s health care career spans more than 20 years.
In addition to his financial skills, Ziolkowski distinguished himself at St. Mary’s by improving organization, enhancing patient care and building connections with the community. St. Mary’s is part of the Carondelet Health Network.
Prior to working at St. Mary’s, Ziolkowski was CEO of Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro, North Carolina. He has a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and a earned a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee.
