January is a month tied heavily to resolutions and the idea of changing one’s life, but you can make a change, big or small, any day.

Paige Gregorio, the owner of Dragonfairy since 2018, has been setting intentions daily for over a decade.

Dragonfairy, located at 2106 Pacific Avenue in Stockton, is a metaphysical supply store selling items including candles, crystals, and oils as well as Reiki and tarot card readings.

At Dragonfairy, Reiki involves a client laying down on a crystal bed under Vogel crystals using the colors of the chakras.

“[A Vogel stone] has 12 faces and it’s cut at a specific angle to where, when the light passes through, it vibrates the stone, which raises the frequency,” Gregorio said. “So when you’re laying under this you can actually feel like, it feels like a buzzing type of energy.”

The goal is to relax and ground the individual. Grounding is commonly seen as going outside and connecting with the Earth such as being barefoot on grass.

“When you are using the crystals, it’s the same thing as putting your feet in grass, your hands and your energy, your aura, is just being manipulated by the frequency of the stones,” Gregorio said.

Choosing what items you use depends on your goals. According to Gregorio, different colors of candles represent different intentions and areas of the body.

“I always say it’s like a self love or a self worth based type of practice,” Gregorio said. “You know, you’re showing up for yourself or setting time to focus on, you know, whatever your intention is. When you do that, you’re making the changes internally.”

Whichever item you practice with, above all Gregorio says it is about being present in the moment and focusing all of your energy on one thought or desire.

While each person’s goals and intentions are unique to them, the Lunar New Year can bring common themes to practices.

“This is the year of the horse,” Gregorio said. “So — last year was the year of the snake. It was all about shedding and releasing. A little bit more uncomfortable. This year should be, you know, faster paced energy. And the things that people are wanting to bring into their life, or, like, pursue should should come to them a lot faster.”
