After many students said it failed to meet its promises to provide housing and financial assistance, California Tribal College is losing students, the Sacramento Bee reported.
The California Tribal College had partnered with Sacramento State, which is helping it with its own accreditation.

A spokesperson for the California Tribal College said they only have a “space agreement.” Meanwhile, Sacramento State declined to provide a comment to the Bee.
Historically, the California Tribal College was seen as a partner in helping to increase the success of Native American students at Sacramento State. In April, the two institutions decided to team up. And last week, Sacramento State announced a Native American college.
According to Sacramento State University’s newspaper, The State Hornet, roughly 50 students came to attend the California Tribal College — and roughly half left. Twenty-six of its students attend Sacramento State, and four go to a community college, Juliet Maestas, the president of California Tribal College, told the Bee.
The California Tribal College has said they are working to make it up to the fall semester’s students and have given $20,000 in scholarships to those who remain, the Bee reported.
