The former executive director of Creative Child Care, which has three locations in Stockton, was arrested for allegedly embezzling $487,000, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
Cecilia Edith Warren was arrested Tuesday and booked into San Joaquin County Jail on two counts of grand theft and two counts of embezzlement, the office said. Jail booking records show she was released the same day.
The alleged embezzlement at the preschool took place between January 2023 and September 2024.
Creative Child Care, founded in 1992 , says on its website that it receives funds from the California Department of Education. The sheriff’s office said the investigation was launched after it was contacted by the San Joaquin County Office of Education from a Head Start program.
