Six people are hospitalized after a house fire on Bishop Street in east Stockton, according to the Stockton Fire Department.
The fire was reported around 6:30 p.m. Monday, according to the CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) logs from the Stockton Fire Department.
“Stockton firefighters are currently facing two first alarm assignments in the south battalion of the city,” Stockton firefighters local 456 wrote in a social media post. “One is a working structure fire with multiple potential victims (unknown at this time); the other is a back yard on fire threatening a house with power lines down inhibiting access. Crews are in the midst of mitigating both emergencies.”
Stockton firefighters arrived at the scene and immediately saw smoke coming from the garage of the single-story home. Firefighters quickly found two injured people, one at the front of the house and one at the back, according to the SFD CAD logs.
One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two others suffered moderate injuries and three had minor injuries, fire officials said.
Fire officials have not yet determined an official cause of the fire.
At the same time, a second fire broke out at South Filbert Street and East Marsh Street, near The School 209 elementary school in Stockton, according to the Stockton Fire Department.
A heavy fire began burning in the backyard and in the alley behind the house off of East Sonora Street. The CAD logs show the SFD calling for backup as the fire escalates.
Fire crews reported downed power lines in the alley, so firefighters stretched hoses between neighboring houses instead of through the alley. Additional units and fire engines arrived on the scene to assist and extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported in the second incident.
Both fires remain under investigation.
