With overnight temperatures expected to reach freezing levels for a second night on Tuesday, the city of Stockton is opening warming zones at two city centers to provide relief for those in need.
The Arnold Rue Community Center, at 5758 Lorraine Ave., and the Stribley Community Center, at 1760 E. Sonora St., will allow check-ins beginning at 8 p.m. for anyone seeking refuge from the cold. Check-out is required by 7 the following morning.
Overnight space will be provided in the building’s heated gyms, and restrooms will be open. Water and snacks will be provided.
Tuesday morning, temperatures dipped into the 30s in Stockton, according to reports from the National Weather Service in Sacramento. Forecasters predict more of the same over the next few days, before a slight warming trend begins on Friday.
