Tuesday’s City Council meeting is expected to bring a key decision on how the city uses housing funds already set aside, along with several other items that could shape local priorities.
Councilmembers will consider whether to redirect $1.6 million originally meant to replace aging Sierra Vista homes toward other housing projects. Aaron Leathley reports the proposal comes as the city continues to balance existing commitments with new development needs. The vote is part of a broader agenda that includes multiple decisions tied to housing and city operations.
Elsewhere, a judge ruled that Stockton candidate Shakeel “Sam” Carpenter will not appear on the primary ballot after challenging his disqualification in court. A review by the California Attorney General’s Office is also calling for improved training for Stockton police officers, particularly around de-escalation and providing aid after shootings.
