There’s no shortage of Stockton and San Joaquin County news to catch up on this morning.
The Stockton Police Department announced the latest results of their continuing crackdown and the city’s smoke shops. The city has required smoke shops to be licensed since 2023 but has continued monitoring shops to address any abuses of the law. The latest sting seized more than $100,000 worth of illegal or prohibited products found at the smoke shops. Repotrter Chris Woodyard has all the information on the latest seizures.
City Hall reporter Andrea Baltodano writes about the return of Bonnie Paige to the city clerk position, at least on an interim basis. Paige served as Stockton’s city clerk from 2011 to 2017 and worked for the city for more than 28 years. She is stepping back into the role vacated by former city clerk Katherine Roland, whose resignation takes effect Sept. 26. The search is on for a permanent replacement.
The bill co-sponsored by Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom, D-Tracy extending peace officer status to correctional officers at the San Joaquin County Jail, has been signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
