Good morning, Stockton.
Lodi could play a bigger role in California politics this November, thanks to newly redrawn congressional district lines.
The changes have placed parts of the city in California’s 7th congressional district, where longtime U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui faces a challenge from Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang. Chris Woodyard takes a closer look at how the new boundaries could influence the race and why Lodi voters may have a say in its outcome.
Back in Stockton, professional hockey made its long-awaited return Saturday night. More than 5,000 fans filled Adventist Health Arena for the Stockton Thunder’s home opener against the Oceanside Shock, bringing plenty of excitement back to the downtown arena after more than four years without professional hockey.
We’re also catching up on the weekend’s “No Kings” demonstration in Stockton ahead of November’s election. And if you’re looking for something to do this week, our events section has plenty of fall activities, including Halloween celebrations and opportunities to get involved in downtown’s mural projects.
Thanks for starting your Tuesday with us. Have a great week, and be sure to check out the rest of today’s stories below.
