Good morning, Stockton.

A familiar sound could soon return to downtown Stockton: hockey at Adventist Health Arena.

City officials and arena leaders are expected to unveil details Wednesday about a new professional hockey team set to begin play in October. Scott Linesburgh reports that the announcement marks another step in Stockton’s long connection to the sport, a move that could bring new energy to the arena and surrounding downtown area.

In other news, the Stockton City Council is preparing to debate another round of spending decisions, including funding tied to police substations and the removal of a north Stockton encampment. We also take a closer look at a recent feral dog attack in Weston Ranch and what residents should know about staying safe. And in Lodi, Michael David Winery winemaker Jeff Farthing reflects on the industry, agriculture and the work behind one of the region’s best-known wine brands.

As always, thank you for reading and being part of this community with us.
