Good morning, Stockton.

In the days after the mass shooting, many of you told us the same thing: Online spaces felt chaotic and cruel, but in real life, our community showed something different.

On Wednesday night, about 100 people gathered at Weber Point for the county’s annual vigil for victims of violent crime — a quiet reminder that grief is shared and no one carries it alone.

We wanted to reflect on the good in Stockton and asked where you find peace, beauty or wonder. Dozens of you shared reflections rooted in hope and community. Here’s one from Steve Morales:

“It is heartwarming seeing so many volunteers show up at the Stockton Food Bank — parents with their kids, company staff, elected leaders and even missionaries.

Thanks also to the volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospital. ‘Hello Humankindness’ is not just a slogan. Stocktonians put it into action.”

We’ll publish more of your answers in the week ahead. If you’d like to add your voice, you can share your thoughts here.

Below is today’s coverage, including the latest on the shooting investigation.
