It’s been a hard week in Stockton.

Scott Linesburgh

On Saturday night we heard about another shooting, the latest in a city that knows them all too well. Four people died, three of them children. More than a dozen others were hurt. Yet again, we had national news talking about our hometown for all the worst reasons. We looked online, and while we saw some of the most loving outpourings of support, we saw some of the most cruel and dismissive commentary, too.

To move forward, we need to talk about what’s happening in Stockton. But that doesn’t just mean talking about what’s wrong. We need to highlight what’s right, too. Each of us has something — or someone — in Stockton that we love. So for the weeks ahead, we’re asking you to talk to us.

Where do you go to find peace? Who has been there for you in a time of need? Where do you see beauty, feel wonder? Who or what makes Stockton great?

Please use this form to contribute your answers. We’ll publish select submissions in hopes that shared thoughts can play even a small part in community healing.
