Stockton’s latest State of the City focused less on big promises and more on the projects, staffing changes and decisions already taking shape across the city.
Mayor Christina Fugazi said Stockton is “ready” during this week’s address, highlighting efforts tied to housing, public safety and city operations. Aaron Leathley reports much of the work discussed has happened behind the scenes over the last year as City Hall continues adjusting to leadership turnover and shifting priorities.
Elsewhere, Stockton Human Resources Director Rosemary Rivas is leaving after five years with the city to take a position in Elk Grove. Stockton police have also started using AI-powered translation software on body cameras, which officials say could help officers communicate more clearly with residents who speak different languages. And federal prosecutors announced a Stockton man pleaded guilty in a scheme involving fake invoices tied to the business practice known as invoice factoring.
