Happy weekend, readers.

👋 I’ll be at the Lodi Grape Festival with my family today, and I hope to see you there.
As promised, I want to give you a preview of our upcoming plans for covering the 2024 elections.
In addition to publishing candidate profiles, we will also be introducing a fact-checking series to combat misinformation and provide clear, factual content about candidates and issues.
For our profiles, each candidate will have the opportunity to answer a series of questions — some from our reporters and some sourced from you, our readers. We are committed to publishing something about each of the candidates.
So we wanted to ask: What issues are most important to you? What questions do you have for candidates?
For our fact-checking series, we’re also seeking your input. Have you encountered any spurious claims, questionable advertisements, or robocalls from politicians? Share them with us, and we will look into them.
Lastly, I hope you saw our invitation to the Monday, Sept. 23, VotingMatters event we’re co-hosting with CalMatters and Delta College. It kicks off a week of candidate forums at the college. More details and the RSVP link are at the bottom of this email.
Thursday’s State of the County event is our lead story, along with other local news.
