Stockton City Council plans to hire Marci Arredondo as the city’s next attorney, adding another new name to the growing list of officials stepping into leadership roles after a series of departures across city government. Aaron Leathley reports that Arredondo has a history working with both the city and San Joaquin County, experience that could shape how the city approaches legal matters moving forward.
Elsewhere in today’s briefing, hundreds gathered in Nelson Park for a candlelight vigil honoring 21-year-old Dustin DeWitt after his fatal stabbing. And if you’re planning the weekend, our guide highlights the Quilt and Fiber Arts Show, a reptile expo and a Stockton Kings game downtown.
