Crews began recovery efforts Sunday at the Medline warehouse in Tracy, where a massive fire last week destroyed the facility and left behind a complicated cleanup effort. The warehouse has been declared a total loss, and investigators are still working to determine what sparked the blaze and why parts of the building’s fire suppression system were not receiving water.
The fire drew attention across the region, sending a plume visible for miles and raising questions about air quality. Officials have said monitoring showed conditions ranging from good to moderate, though health experts have encouraged residents to remain mindful of potential risks.
At Stockton City Hall, council members unanimously appointed Daniel Tafoya to a second committee assignment despite recent controversy surrounding comments he made about Vice Mayor Jason Lee. The vote came shortly after Mayor Christina Fugazi issued a proclamation recognizing Pride Month.
