Good morning, Stockton.

In another hard week for our city, we asked you to share the places where you find beauty and grounding. One local photographer wrote to tell us about seeing it in Stockton’s history and architecture, in the old buildings and in choosing to focus on what lifts us instead of what weighs us down. “I choose to try to point out the beauty,” Carrie Walker said, “and hopefully others will be inspired to see it too.”
Your reflections continue to remind us that Stockton is more than its pain. They help us understand what has gone wrong, but they also show us what is still holding our community together. We hope you’ll share yours.
Below, you’ll find the latest updates from City Hall along with continuing coverage of the mass shooting that has shaken Stockton. Today’s top story centers on a grieving father calling for support and accountability, and the sheriff confirms new details about the investigation. We also report on a probe involving Vice Mayor Jason Lee and a state audit that may examine decisions made amid Stockton’s leadership turmoil.
Thank you for showing up for one another and for helping us hold this community together, even in the hardest weeks.
