Stockton police on Wednesday announced an arrest in connection with a shooting that killed a high school student at Unity Park in 2023.
Guillermo Lopez Jr., 21, was taken into custody in Hayward on Tuesday by a task force from the U.S. Marshals Service, according to police.
Lopez is accused of the shooting of 17-year-old Cesar Chavez High School student Thai Khin on April 12, 2023. Officers responded at 3:07 p.m. that day to a report of a shooting and arrived to find Khin, who had been shot, as well as a second teenage victim who had been pistol-whipped, police said.
Khin was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries there.
Lopez was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of homicide, police said.
