A Stockton man was arrested on multiple felony counts after an investigation into sexual assault and elder abuse at a medical facility in the town of Galt, police said Wednesday.
Justin Atkinson, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday and booked into the Sacramento County main jail. He remained in custody as of Wednesday night, with bail set at $200,000, Galt police said.
The arrest followed an investigation that included interviews with victims and corroborating evidence, officers said. Atkinson was suspended from his job at the facility as soon as the allegations were brought to the staff’s attention, authorities said.
The medical facility, located in the 100 block of F Street in the town about 24 miles north of Stockton, was not initially identified by name, but police later confirmed the business as the Rancho Seco Care Center, a skilled nursing facility.
“This arrest reflects the commitment of the Galt Police Department to seek justice for victims of sexual assault,” Galt Police Chief Brian Kalinowski said in a statement. “We encourage anyone who may have additional information related to this case to contact our detectives as we continue our investigation.”
