Stockton police detectives were searching for clues Monday into the shooting death of a teenager over the weekend.

The boy, identified by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office as Julian Martinez, 17, of Stockton, was found with a gunshot wound by arriving officers at 10 p.m. Saturday in the 6300 block of north El Dorado Street in the city’s Lakeview District. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officers said.

The location is close to Anderson Park. So far, police say they have no information on any suspects.

A woman with the same last name as the victim commented on the Police Department’s social media post that announced the shooting, pleading for help.

“Someone in my family was taken too soon over a bike!!” she wrote. She urged anyone with information about the shooting: “PLEASE do not hesitate to call and give the police info.” Callers can contact the Stockton Police Department’s non-emergency line at (209) 937-8377 or the department’s investigations division at (209) 937-8323 or submit an anonymous tip to Stockton Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600.

As of last Tuesday, Stockton police had recorded two homicides for the year. This would appear to be third.
