A driver who may have been high on opioids ran his car into five men Sunday afternoon in Stockton, resulting in injuries that required all to be taken to a hospital, police said.

The 62-year-old driver, who was being investigated for driving under the influence, was found unconscious after the 3:56 p.m. crash in the 500 block of west Sonora Street.

He was administered the drug Narcan, a nasal spray used to counteract the effects of opioid overdoses, Stockton police officials said.

Neither the driver nor the men who were struck by his car were identified by police. Officers said they do not believe the driver intended to strike the pedestrians.

The victims ranged in age from 40 to 67. Though they were transported to the hospital, police said their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
