The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office says its Illegal Fireworks Task Force has turned the Fourth of July into a dud for criminals.

The task force, comprised of sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement agencies, not only seized more than 12,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and 150 “destructive devices,” but also four guns, 26.5 grams of cocaine and a stolen drone.

All told, 21 cases were forwarded to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

“These results are a direct reflection of what can be accomplished through strong partnerships and a shared commitment to public safety,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

The Sheriff’s Office isn’t the only law enforcement agency that has netted some big illegal hauls. Lathrop police officers recently discovered a cache of illegal fireworks during a traffic stop. They found 1,800 pounds of illegal fireworks and 72 homemade explosives inside a box truck. Officers made one arrest in the case.
