A 68-year-old woman died in an alleged hit-and-run in south Stockton on Sunday morning.

The victim was struck at about 4:40 a.m. near Stanislaus and Jackson streets, according to the Stockton Police Department. The woman was unresponsive when police officers arrived.

She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A man and a woman who were allegedly responsible for the crash fled on foot after the collision, police said.
