Sacramento police announced Saturday they had made an arrest in connection with a drive-by shooting a day earlier at an ABC-affiliated television station that serves Stockton.
Hours later, the man was released from jail, records show.
Anibal Hernandezsantana, 64, of Sacramento was arrested at his home in the 5400 block of Carlson Drive in Sacramento, police said. Hernandezsantana was identified after investigators linked him to the suspect vehicle in the shooting, which Sacramento police dispatchers described as a white Nissan Kicks with tinted windows and spoked rims.
He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied building and negligent discharge of a firearm.
On Saturday afternoon, online jail records showed that Hernandezsantana had been released. Earlier reports indicated his bail had been set at $200,000. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday, according to reports from CNN.
The charges against Hernandezsantana stem from a shooting Friday afternoon at KXTV ABC10 in Sacramento.
Officers responding to a call about shots fired just after 1:30 p.m. found three bullet holes in a front window at the TV station in the 400 block of Broadway, police said.
Although there were people inside the building at the time, no one was injured.
The station is an ABC affiliate owned by Tegna Inc. in Northern California.
Tegna released the following statement after the shooting:
“We can confirm that shots were fired into our station at KXTV earlier today. While details are still limited, importantly, all of our employees are safe and unharmed. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and have taken additional measures to ensure the continued safety of our employees.”
Police moved quickly to identify a suspect, asking for the public’s help with information about the case. The FBI also provided resources in the investigation, authorities said.
Currently, police said they have no motive in the shooting.
