An 18-year-old woman has been arrested as an accomplice in the shooting death of a teenager in Stockton, police announced.
Alexis Holloway was booked Thursday into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of felony murder, among other charges.
Police say Holloway was involved in an Aug. 30 shooting near Albany and Astor drives that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man. The victim, whom authorities have not publicly identified, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital, according to police reports. He initially was listed in stable condition following surgery; however, he died about two weeks later, authorities said.
Holloway joins Walter Burgess, 23, as a suspect in the fatal shooting. Burgess was arrested Sept. 22 by the Stockton Police Department’s Gang Street Enforcement Team during a traffic stop. He was a passenger in the vehicle at the time.
Burgess faces a felony homicide charge as well as a firearms enhancement. He remains in jail without bail and scheduled to return to court in December.
Holloway is due in court Monday. In addition to murder, she is being charged with robbery and the use of a firearm during a felony, according to police records.
Stockton police Officer Omer Edhah told Stocktonia that it’s “unusual, but not uncommon” for a woman to shoot someone or be an accomplice in a homicide. He indicated that this case is complicated — “there is much to unpack,” he said — and further details cannot be released at this time.
The relationship between the two suspects or the victim was not immediately clear, Edhah said.
