A man and woman were being held without bail Monday on murder charges as suspects in a Stockton gas station parking lot shooting that killed a man, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said.
Around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, the man crashed a vehicle into the side of a building, and when police arrived, they found he had been shot.
Haley Marie Morris, 19, and Samuel Victor Flores, 23, were arrested at a motel later and booked into San Joaquin County Jail.
One of them allegedly got out of their Chevrolet Malibu at the gas station and fired multiple rounds at the man with a semi-automatic assault weapon in what detectives believe was a “targeted attack.” The man’s car then hit the side of a business in the 4300 block of East Waterloo Road.
Despite efforts by deputies to resuscitate him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told deputies that the suspects’ vehicle was a Malibu with duct tape on the rear driver’s side. That led detectives to the Waterloo Inn, where they detained Morris and Flores and searched their room with a warrant.
No motive was given for the attack. The sheriff’s office asked that anyone with additional information contact detectives at (209) 468-4400.
