A Stockton man who was present at the birthday party where four people were killed and more than a dozen injured in a mass shooting last week faces charges of 37 felony and misdemeanor counts, according to San Joaquin County Superior Court records.
Authorities have not indicated whether the charges are connected to the Nov. 29 massacre. No suspects have yet been identified in the attack.
Luciano Guerrero — known as “Nano” — was on parole for previous crimes when he was arrested Monday and now faces a series of new allegations, including:
- Assault with a firearm
- Possession of an assault rifle
- Possession of high-capacity magazines
- Felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition
- Criminal street gang activity
- Domestic violence (corporal injury)
- Ammunition violations
- Numerous firearms and enhancement allegations
Guerrero, who was identified as the father of the 2-year-old whose party was being celebrated when gunfire erupted last weekend, also faces a felony count of parole-revocation. He is being held without bail.
According to parole documents, officers reported seeing Guerrero, 22, at the party, which was held for his young daughter. GPS tracking from an ankle monitor required as part of his parole indicate Guerrero remained at the banquet hall for more than five hours that night and spent additional time across the street, court records included in the filing show.
Officials have not accused Guerrero of involvement in the shooting, and the new charges against him stem from unrelated investigations, court documents show.
Guerrero has prior convictions for carrying a loaded firearm as an active street gang member and evading a peace officer. He also has a 2021 misdemeanor firearm conviction.
Court records show that in 2023, he admitted to an affiliation with the Sureños, a Southern California–based network of Mexican-American street gangs that align with the Mexican Mafia prison gang.
He has been classified by Stockton police as an active member of the Asian Boyz and Muddy Boyz gangs.
Guerrero is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 11.
Williams case continues separately
A separate parole-revocation case against Billy Williams, known as “Fly Boy Dougy,” remains unchanged. Williams, 25, is accused of violating a parole condition that prohibits being within 300 feet of places where children gather. Police reported seeing him at the same birthday party, according to court filings.
Williams’ underlying case involves convictions for child abuse, child endangerment and corporal injury from 2021. At the time of his arrest, he was wanted for failing to make a court appearance for charges involving traffic violations. According to court records, Williams also had violated his parole by being in contact with a known gang member — Guerrero.
He was denied bail and is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 8.
Officials said Williams, who is the uncle of the birthday girl, is not a suspect in the shooting.
Investigation ongoing
Detectives have not released suspect information or made any arrests in connection with the massacre, which occurred inside a banquet hall on Lucile Avenue and remains one of Stockton’s deadliest mass-casualty events in recent years.
Some local officials have described the shooting as being gang-related, but San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow — whose office is leading the investigation — has cautioned that the motive remains unknown.
“That may be accurate. It may not. We don’t know,” Withrow said in an interview with Stocktonia on Wednesday. “We really won’t know the guy’s motivation until we get him.”
