A man who violently invaded a family home in Stockton in 2022, killing a man, has been given 60 years to life in prison, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office said.
Frederick Wesley killed Tyrone Deloney, 32, and wounded Jozette Huerta, then 52, after invading their home at gunpoint on March 22, 2022, prosecutors said. Wesley threatened the children in the house with his gun, hitting one in the head with it, and eventually opened fire on the two adults.
According to news reports at the time, officers received reports of a shooting at 10:11 p.m. in the 2500 block of Marsh Street and located Deloney and Huerta suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police said a 9-year-old girl was also found at the scene who had been hit in the head with a firearm by Wesley.
All three victims were transported to a hospital, where the Deloney died from his injuries.
Wesley, then 42, was found near the crime scene and was in possession of two firearms, according to police. He was taken into custody.
Homicide detectives on the case determined that Wesley knocked on the victim’s door at their residence and forced himself inside.
Police said there was an 18-year-old woman, a 12-year-old boy, a 10-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl inside the home. They called out to their uncle, Deloney, and their grandmother, Huerta, who responded to the scene.
Investigators said Wesley’s attack was a random act of violence, and that he didn’t know the victims.
