A 25-year-old man was arrested over the weekend in Lodi for allegedly kidnapping a woman from Stockton.
Stockton police officers responded to a report that a 27-year-old woman was abducted from the 700 block of Bristol Avenue, in Stockton’s Civic District, at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Stockton Police Department.
The two were later found in Lodi and the suspect, who was identified as Clarence Lofton, allegedly refused to surrender when told to do so. Police alleged he was armed and said force was used to subdue and arrest him.
The victim was not injured.
Lofton was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and booked into San Joaquin County Jail on allegations of kidnapping, resisting arrest and several firearms-related charges, according to the police department and jail records.
Lofton’s bail was set at $860,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., jail records show.
