Three San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputies were released from a local hospital after they were injured when two patrol vehicles crashed Monday evening.

The SJ County Sheriff’s Office reported the deputies were responding to a call concerning dirt bike and ATV riders driving recklessly at about 5 p.m. at a canal near East Main Street and South Gills Road. The sheriff’s office reported the riders did not stop during the pursuit.

On Tuesday morning, sheriff’s office spokesperson Heather Brent said the injuries to the deputies were not serious and that they had been released from the hospital after medical evaluation.

No other injuries were reported, the sheriff’s office said. There has not been an update in the investigation.

At this time, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
