A 43-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after police say he kidnapped a girl at gunpoint in Stockton’s Park District.

The alleged kidnapping was reported around 3 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of North Pilgrim Street, according to the Stockton Police Department.

Police said a female juvenile was in the area when the suspect drove up next to her, showed her a firearm, and demanded that she get into his car. The girl complied.

Investigators said the female victim later persuaded the suspect to let her go. She was able to get away safely.

Officers responded to the area, found the suspect and took him into custody. Juan Gonzalez, 43, was booked into jail on suspicion of kidnapping, police said.
