A 24-year-old man crashed his car into another vehicle after being shot while driving in Stockton.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday near the 1300 block of South Center Street in south Stockton, according to the Stockton Police Department. Once on scene, officers found the victim with a gunshot wound and an unharmed 35-year-old who was a passenger in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim had reportedly been struck by gunfire from another vehicle while heading southbound on Center Street, police said.
After being shot, the driver continued south and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of South Center Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, police said. Police did not provide any details about the second car, possible damages to the vehicle, or any injuries to its passengers.
The 24-year-old victim that was shot sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, police said. He is expected to survive.
Police say the suspect in the shooting is still at large. Officials have also not released a description of the suspect or their vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
