Officers in Stockton arrested two people early Tuesday morning after a gas station encounter turned into an alleged robbery attempt that ended with the victim fighting back and recovering his property, police said.
Officers responded at 1:37 a.m. Tuesday to the 700 block of West Eighth Street in the Seaport District, where a 29-year-old man reported he had been assaulted after asking two people for help putting air in his tire.
Police said the suspects helped the man but then walked away with his property. When the victim confronted them, they allegedly assaulted him. The victim fought back and recovered his belongings before officers arrived.
The man suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment, police said.
Officers arrested Angel Alcantara, 20, and Prescilla Alcantara, 42, on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy. Police did not immediately release more details about the suspects’ relationship to each other or whether they remained in custody.
