Shortly after midnight on Oct. 28, officers responded to the 500 block of west Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Stockton’s Seaport District on reports of a shooting.
When they arrived, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Armandeep Singh Waraich, 20, of Manteca.
Detectives later identified Mackenzie Rivers, 22, and Corey Freeman, 35, as suspects in the fatal shooting. A third suspect remains outstanding, police said in a news release.
Rivers was booked into jail on suspicion of murder. Freeman was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, pimping, carrying a loaded firearm and being an accessory to a felony. Both are being held without bail in the San Joaquin County Jail.
