Good morning, Stockton.

👋 Basketball fans are in for a treat this weekend. Not only are the Stockton Kings playing games both Saturday and Sunday, but a unique California league is also hooping it up at an exhibition game at Stockton’s Adventist Health Arena.

The California Poppies and the Columbia Gold Diggers — two teams from the Granny Basketball League — will face off in a 10-minute exhibition game prior to the Kings’ 2 p.m. game Sunday against the San Diego Clippers.

What is the Granny Basketball League, you ask? The organization’s website describes it as a “gentle game for women of a certain age.” We’re not talking about Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.

The league, which began in 2005, has grown to 53 teams in 10 states. California hosts three teams, including the two playing Sunday.

Read more about the league and the upcoming game in Chris Woodyard’s story here.
