A former Stockton police sergeant, who is already serving an eight-year prison sentence for sexual assault convictions, has been arraigned on five new related felony charges, according to a press release from the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office.

Nicholas Bloed, 45, a former sergeant with the Stockton Police Department, appeared in San Joaquin County Superior Court on Wednesday to face new sexual assault charges.

These stem from conduct alleged to have occurred in March 2022, officials said.

The charges include two counts of oral copulation by threat of authority to arrest or deport, two counts of rape by threat to arrest or deport, and one count of assault by a public officer, according to the DA’s office.

Prosecutors have also included alleged aggravating factors for sentencing, including planning, sophistication and professionalism in committing the alleged acts, according to the DA’s office.

The alleged victimization of a particularly vulnerable victim is also a factor, according to the press release.

The district attorney’s office wrote in the statement that a notice has been filed to potentially introduce evidence of Bloed’s prior uncharged sexual offenses and his existing felony convictions.

“A previous sentence does not grant a pass for additional victims or uncharged crimes,” SJ County District Attorney Ron Freitas said in the statement. “We will continue to bring every viable charge to light to ensure that this defendant is held fully accountable for the total scope of his actions against our community.”

Bloed is serving an eight-year sentence for pleading guilty in 2025 to four related felonies involving four victims. These convictions included two counts of oral copulation by threat of arrest and two counts of assault by an officer under color of authority.

Those crimes are considered serious felonies under California’s Three Strikes Law, which would give him two strikes on his record if convicted. Three-time repeat offenders with multiple prior serious or violent felony convictions are required to serve a minimum sentence of 25 years to life.

Upon release, Bloed will also be required to registers as a sex offender for at least 20 years.

Bloed’s next court appearance is set for Feb. 27.
