A former Stockton police sergeant was sentenced to eight years in prison after admitting he forced people to perform sex acts with him while he was on duty, the San Joaquin County district attorney’s office announced Tuesday.
Nicholas Bloed, a 14-year veteran of the Stockton Police Department, pleaded guilty March 28 to four felony counts stemming from sexual assault charges. Two of the counts were oral copulation under color of authority. The other two were assault by a public officer under color of authority. At the time of his plea, prosecutors indicated an eight-year sentence was likely.
As part of his sentence, Bloed will need to register as a sex offender for 10 additional years.
“Nicholas Bloed’s reprehensible abuse of authority as a law enforcement officer is a grotesque betrayal of the public’s trust and the principles of justice,” District Attorney Ron Frietas said in a statement. “This eight-year prison sentence and mandatory sex offender registration serve as an irrefutable warning: those who exploit their power to prey on others will face severe consequences.”
Bloed, 44, was a Stockton police officer from March 2008 until October 2022, the same year he first faced charges for his crimes. Initially he was charged with 15 counts involving eight victims, including rape, sodomy, prostitution and bribery. According to the D.A., Bloed’s victims were men and woman he met while on duty.
