Good morning, Stockton.

Football is coming back to downtown Stockton.

The city is getting a professional indoor arena football team next spring, and organizers hope the Stockton Crusaders can build a fan base that stretches across the Central Valley. Chris Woodyard has the details on the new franchise, what fans can expect and why team leaders believe Stockton is the right place to launch.

While football is looking ahead to next year, the weather isn’t waiting. Stockton is expected to see its first triple-digit temperatures of the year this week, with forecasters predicting highs above 100 degrees by Thursday. Summer has officially entered the chat.

We’re also following a crash that injured two children after a vehicle struck a Stockton dance studio. And after months of discussions, workshops and public meetings, the Stockton City Council approved a $1 billion budget that will guide city spending over the next year.

Thanks for starting your morning with us.
