Two children were taken to a hospital Tuesday evening after a vehicle crashed into a Stockton building while a dance class was underway, officials with the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash happened around 6:35 p.m. near Lower Sacramento Road and Grider Way, CHP Officer Itzel Aguilar said. A woman missed a turn and drove into the Dance Connection studio, Aguilar said.

Two 9-year-old children were injured by debris from the crash and were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, CHP officials said. It was not immediately clear how seriously the children were injured or what their conditions were on Wednesday.

A dance class was taking place inside the studio at the time, but the students were on the opposite side of the building when the vehicle crashed, CHP said.

Aguilar said alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash. The incident appeared to be the result of human error, she said.

Still, an investigation is ongoing, and CHP declined to provide additional details.
