Wes Rhea, who has promoting Stockton for nearly two decades, is leaving his position as chief executive officer of Visit Stockton.
The Visit Stockton Board of Directors announced Rhea’s departure on Monday, saying that Rhea is leaving Visit Stockton to become the President and CEO of Visit Lodi.
“The board of directors would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Wes for his years of dedication and visionary leadership,” said George Kaplanis, Visit Stockton board chair. “His passion for promoting Stockton and his tireless commitment to the community have left a lasting impact on the city’s tourism industry.”
Rhea has worked for Visit Stockton (formerly the Stockton Convention & Visitors Bureau) since 2010. The organization released a statement saying Rhea’s leadership “has resulted in the creation of numerous award-winning marketing initiatives and signature events.” It also stated Visit Stockton has grown substantially with Rhea’s guidance, “becoming a key driver of local economic growth and community pride.”
““It has been an absolute privilege to serve as CEO of Visit Stockton and lead destination marketing in Stockton the past 19 years,” said Rhea. “I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together helping to elevate Stockton as a destination and fostering a sense of pride in our community.”
The Visit Stockton Board of Directors plans to begin a search for Rhea’s replacement in the near future.
