Well, not quite instant: It took 15 minutes and $100 before the Wheel of Fortune slot machine at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino lit up with the win, officials said in a statement.

The casino identified the winner only as “Evelyn R.”

The magic moment came with she gave the machine a $5 spin that lined up the three reels. The payout: $1,008,054.

The hotel casino, just off the Strip at its north end, is one of Sin City’s most historic. Built in 1969 by financier Kirk Kerkorian as the International, it was Nevada’s largest hotel and continued to grow when it became the Las Vegas Hilton.

It remained a top destination in its heyday, helped by a location next door to the Las Vegas Convention Center. It also became a performance destinations to icons like Elvis Presley, Liberace and Barry Manilow.
