For the first time since the start of the pandemic, College Night is returning to the San Joaquin Delta College’s campus this evening.
The event is designed to allow students and parents knowledge about university options as well as learn more about Delta college. The college fair will be held in the Marcopulos gym from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
“We’re excited to once again hold this popular event in person, and to give students a chance to gain insight into the many options available to them,” said Chris Frymire, manager of the Delta Connect Center, a one-stop shop that provides student services in Delta’s DeRicco Building.
More than 40 universities from all over the state including California state university (CSU) University of California (UC) as well as historically black colleges (HBCU) will be in attendance.
This event is not just for high school students in Stockton, according to Alex Breitler the director of marketing and communication at San Joaquin Delta College students in middle school and at Delta can participate.
“All students are welcome, regardless of grade. Our service area is quite large including not only all of San Joaquin County but portions of four other counties as well (Calaveras, Sacramento, Solano and Alameda). Students from throughout our service area are welcome.” said Breitler.
There will be a total of four sessions that will offer different resources at this event for families and students.
The welcome session starts at 5:30 p.m., in the Atherton auditorium this session will highlight Delta college and the transfer advantages the school features.
In the same auditorium at 6:15 p.m. there will be a financial aid workshop for parents and students.
As mentioned previously, there will be an application information panel during this session families will learn about the application process for CSU, UC and HBCU.
These application sessions will start simultaneously at 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. so that families can attend all three.
The UC application workshop will be in the West forum, CSU will be in the North forum and the HBCU will be in the South forum.It is not required to reserve a spot for college night but is highly encouraged.
