The first weekend of May brings an energetic mix of outdoor tournaments, cultural festivals and community events to Stockton. Whether you’re looking to catch a championship-level disc golf match, explore local art or take the kids to a parade, there’s plenty to see and do.

PDGA Champions Cup (continues through Sunday)
Location: Swenson Park Golf Course, 6803 Alexandria Place, Stockton
Dates: May 1–4
Stockton is hosting one of disc golf’s biggest events of the year, the 2025 PDGA Champions Cup. The four-day tournament draws the top pro players from across the country, along with hundreds of fans.
Spectators can purchase general admission or VIP tickets, with perks such as access to the ZUCA Fan Zone, a popup bar and grill, bleacher seating and a vendor village.
The Champions Cup is a great introduction to the growing sport of disc golf. The family-friendly event is free for children 10 and younger when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
Cinco de Mayo festival and parade
Location: San Joaquin County Fairgrounds, 1658 S. Airport Way, Stockton
Dates: May 2–4
Admission: Free (Friday), $10 parking on Saturday and Sunday
El Concilio’s annual Cinco de Mayo Festival returns with three full days of food, dancing, live music, car shows and cultural celebrations. The party kicks off Friday with free admission and parking and a performance by The Band August.
On Sunday, don’t miss one of the oldest Cinco de Mayo parades in the country, beginning at 10 a.m. at Weber Institute and winding its way through downtown Stockton. Parade winners will be announced later that afternoon on the main stage at the fairgrounds.

Astronomy in the Park
Date: May 3, at sunset
Location: Oak Grove Regional Park, 4520 W. Eight Mile Road, Stockton
Admission: Free (parking $6 cash per vehicle)
Hosted by the Stockton Astronomical Society, this free stargazing event offers public telescope viewing at Oak Grove Regional Park beginning after sunset.
Saturday’s session will focus on the moon, Jupiter, Mars and the Hercules Globular Cluster. Families are invited to explore indoor astronomy activities at the Nature Center before the sky darkens.
Free Admission Day at The Haggin Museum
Date: May 3, noon-5 p.m.
Location: The Haggin Museum, 1201 N. Pershing Ave., Stockton
Admission: Free
On the first Saturday of every month, visitors can explore Stockton’s renowned Haggin Museum free of charge. With rotating exhibits, permanent collections of fine art and local history, as well as interactive spaces for families, the Haggin is a standout destination in Victory Park.
Delta College Student Art Exhibition
Dates: May 1–9
Location: Horton Art Gallery, San Joaquin Delta College, Shima 144
Admission: Free
The LH Horton Jr. Gallery presents its annual Student Art Exhibition featuring selected works by Delta College students. The juried exhibit, which is open to the public, includes ceramics, painting, photography and digital media.
