Even with the weather cooling down a little — thank goodness — there’s no shortage of things to do outdoors around the region.
Some local celebrations return, including one that will bring a stylish bit of traffic to our Miracle Mile, as we head into October and “spooky season.”

The men's team (1-5-2) hosts the University of California at 7 p.m. at Knoles Field on Friday, while the women's squad (1-8) takes on Loyola Marymount Saturday night at the same time.
Bring your appetite to this gathering of food vendors from around Northern California, which returns to the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds for its fourth year. Parking is free and kids under 5 also get in at no cost.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of San Joaquin County, which helps around 1,500 youths in the county living in foster care, is hosting this event at Lodi Lake. The timer starts at 9 a.m., with a Kids Dash set for 10:15 a.m.
The giants of Mexican regional music, who recently played a "Tiny Desk" concert on NPR, will command the whole stage at Adventist Health Arena. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The Miracle Mile will once again be the place to cruise this weekend, with not just a car show but live music, a kid's zone, and a beer garden on tap. The car show is limited to 100 cars, with a $40 registration fee the day of the event.
The Stockton Symphony and United Way of San Joaquin County will hold a joint celebration dinner for their respective 100th anniversaries, with live music, a silent auction, and a dance party after dinner.
